Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs’ offence found its rhythm in the third inning as they defeated the Brooks Bombers 7-5 in front of 5,688 fans on Tuesday night at Seaman Stadium.

The Dawgs’ offence was led by Ricky Sanchez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in his new spot at the bottom of the order.

Jordan Kievman went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk, while Turner Zdunich (High River, Alta.) also had a nice night, going 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The Dawgs’ pitching was led by starter Brody Papay, who threw five strong innings, allowing three runs (two earned), while also registering five strikeouts, to pick up the win.

The bullpen did the job in the latter innings. Tonight it was Grady Keljo, Blake Smith and Max McRaray. They combined to allow two runs (one earned) in three innings.

Ashton Luera closed it out for the Dawgs in the ninth.

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 16-6 on the year.

They will now head on a road trip that begins against the Fort McMurray Giants on Wednesday. Their next home game is on Canada Day against the Sylvan Lake Gulls. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
