Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs recorded a 4-1 road victory over the Energy City Cactus Rats on Wednesday in a game that was delayed one hour by rain.
The Dawgs have now won eight in a row and have improved their season record to 13-3.
The Dawgs’ offence was led by a standout performance by Dawgs Academy alum Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.), who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including a two-run home run to give the Dawgs the early lead in the top of the first.
Fellow Dawgs Academy alum Landon Kauffman (Vancouver, B.C.), continued his nice start to the season, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the fourth.
Newcomer Emmett Stacher also continued to impress, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth.
On the mound, Dawgs Academy alum, Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) threw two scoreless innings to open the contest. Following Forno, the Dawgs’ bullpen once again came in and shut things down. Tonight it was Brody Burnette, Dalton Hoffart and Max McRaray who locked down the win, going a combined four innings and allowing just one run. McRaray picked up the save.
The Dawgs will now play the Lethbridge Bulls on Thursday at Seaman Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
