Cote comes through in clutch to give Dawgs walk-off win

Leo Cote (Sherbrooke, Que.) hit a two-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday to give the Okotoks Dawgs an 11-10 win over the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

The single was Cote’s third hit of the game.

With the win, the Dawgs improved to 24-11 and moved two-and-a-half games ahead of the Gulls atop the West Division.

Cote was the hitting hero for the Dawgs, but Jake Skaggs (Pittsburg State University) also had three hits and three runs.

Ricky Sanchez (Pittsburg State University) also had a trio of hits and a team-leading four RBIs.

On the mound, Austin Eaton (Texas State University) started and allowed four runs in five innings while striking out four.

Chase Tucker (Mount Pearl, Nfld.) then provided two scoreless innings in relief.

Frank Flores (Colorado State University - Pueblo) pitched the ninth inning and picked up the win.

The Dawgs will now hit the road to face the Fort McMurray Giants.
