The Okotoks Dawgs split their doubleheader against the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Monday, taking the first game 5-3 before dropping the second 8-2.

In Game 1, the Dawgs jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning and held off a push from the Gulls to secure the win. However, in Game 2, Sylvan Lake responded with a five-run second inning and never looked back, holding the Dawgs to just three hits.

At the plate, Steven Elsner (Bellevue University) had a hit in the first game and then recorded a hit, an RBI, and scored a run in the nightcap.

Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) also picked up a hit in each contest, and Jake Skaggs (Pittsburgh State University) reached base in both games. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) showed discipline at the plate with two walks in the second game.

On the mound, Gavin Wuschke (Regina, Sask.) threw a clean inning in Game 1 to help seal the win.

In Game 2, Easton Corey (Linn-Benton Community College) worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

The Dawgs have clinched the West Division title and are set to host game one of the West Division Semi Finals against the Brooks Bombers on Wednesday.
