Medicine Hat, Alta - A rollercoaster night at Athletic Park ended in heartbreak for the Okotoks Dawgs, who fell 12–11 to the Medicine Hat Mavericks in walk-off fashion on Wednesday.

Despite pounding out 18 hits and holding a late lead, the Dawgs were undone by a chaotic ninth inning.

The Dawgs took the lead into the top of the ninth, but things unraveled quickly. Medicine Hat answered by scoring two in the bottom of the ninth for a comeback win.

Offensively, the Dawgs were firing on all cylinders. Scoring 11 runs in the season opener on the road is no small feat. Some notable highlights include Ayden Crouse (Chandler-Gilbert Community College) provided a huge lift going 3-for-4, while Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.) added two hits. Wrubleski reached base three times.

On the mound, starter Brayden Tambone (Mesa Community College) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and three runs.

The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium to continue WCBL play on Saturday at 7:05 pm against the newly rebranded Energy City Cactus Rats.
