The Okotoks Dawgs suffered a heartbreaking extra-innings loss to the Fort McMurray Giants on Thursday night.

The Giants defeated the Dawgs 8-6 after a walk-off home run in the 12th inning.

With the loss, the Dawgs move to 8-3 on the season.

Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) blasted his second home run of the season for the Dawgs, while Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) and Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) both had multi-hit games. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) also had two hits and an RBI.

Bobby Vath tossed four innings and only allowed three hits in his first start of the season for the Dawgs. The Giants rallied for three runs off Dawgs’ relievers in the eighth inning.

The two teams will face off again on Friday night in the second game of the four-game series.
