The numbers are in, and yet again, the Dawgs continue to enjoy a strong level of support from their passionate fans.

For the second consecutive year, the top U.S. online resource for baseball executives, coaches, and fans, Ballpark Business, has reported that the Okotoks Dawgs rank third in all of North America among summer collegiate franchises in attendance. Ballpark Biz refers to the Dawgs as “the Canadian powerhouse” of summer collegiate baseball and reports that with a per game average of 3,676 fans flocking to Seaman Stadium, only the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League and the Savannah Bananas of the Coast Plains League topped Okotoks in fan support.

“Dawgs are truly fortunate to enjoy some of the best fans in baseball,” managing director John Ircandia said. “Through good times and not so good times on the field our fans remain loyal, passionate, and dedicated to their boys of summer. I cannot express how incredibly rewarding it has been to have built something from scratch, first, the Dawgs program itself, and second, our phenomenal baseball facilities, and to watch them become the centerpiece of summer, family entertainment in Okotoks, the communities of the Foothills, and the greater Calgary area.”

Overall, the Dawgs hosted over 80,000 fans during the 2018 season and trailed just the perennial U.S. powerhouse Mallards (6,249 fans annually) and Bananas (4,229 annually).

Okotoks is one of just two Canadian teams in the top 10. The Victoria Habourcats of the West Coast League rank ninth.

The Dawgs would like to thank every fan for making Seaman Stadium your home away from home during the 2018 season and beyond.
