Dawgs win extra-inning battle with Berries

The Okotoks Dawgs opened their road trip with a 9-6 extra-inning victory over the Saskatoon Berries on Tuesday at NextGen Patch at Cairns Field.

With the win, the Dawgs improved their season record to 23-9.

The Dawgs offence was led by Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, a stolen base, and a walk.

Jordan Kievman also belted a three-run home run in the third inning for the Dawgs.

On the mound, Brody Papay got the start and fanned four in five innings.

Emmet Stacher, Dalton Hoffart and Max McCraray then combined for three scoreless innings in relief before Brody Burnette pitched the final three frames to earn the win.

The Dawgs will continue their road trip on Wednesday with another game against the Berries.
