Diaz dominates at WBC in Wichita

LHP Jeff Francis (North Delta, BC) pitched there during his draft year before coming home to his combine with Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC) to help BC win the Canada Cup over Ontario at Labatt Park.

And Indigo Diaz pitched at the 84th annual National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series in Wichita, Kan. earlier this month.

Diaz (North Vancouver, BC) was one of the 26 players selected to the NJCAA National team coached by Tyler coach Doug Wren. Diaz pitched for the Coquitlam Redsand last spring for the Iowa Western Reivers. The 6-foot-5, 250 pounder is now headed to the Michigan State Spartans. 

Diaz worked in four games pitching 4 1/3 innings as he allowed one run on six hits and two walks, while he struck out six. 

In the opener, Diaz came on to pitch the sixth for the NJCAA National team trailing 5-2, he worked an inning allowing a run on three hits against the San Diego Force. The NJCAA team scored four in the eighth and again in the 12th for a 7-6 win. 

Two days later he worked 1 1/3 scoreless in a 6-3 loss to the San Antonio Angels, He struck out three against the eventual winners 

Two days after than he worked 1/3 of an inning in a scoreless inning as the NJCAA National beat the Everett Merchants 8-0.

And two days later, he worked 1 2/3 scoreless allowing one hit and two walks, as he struck out three in a 7-3 win over the Wellington Heat.
