Official Abbotsford Cardinals News Release
The Abbotsford Cardinals would like to announce the return of longtime fixture Corey Eckstein as junior head coach.
Eckstein returns to BC after spending the last six years serving as president and 17U head coach for the Ontario Blue Jays.
Eckstein helped build the Abbotsford program from 2005 to 2020. During his time with the Cardinals, he led the program to league championships in 2008, 2009, 2016 and provincial championships in 2016 and 2018. During his 15 years with the Cardinals, Eckstein helped over 75 athletes continue their baseball careers at the college level, as well as seven players get drafted by major league teams.
In addition to his decorated career in B.C., Eckstein has made an impact on Canadian baseball on the global stage. Serving the Canadian Junior National Team, Eckstein helped lead Canada to silver medals in the World Qualifier in Cartagena, Columbia (2011) and Seoul, South Korea (2012), as well as a non-podium finish in Taiwan (2013).
Eckstein has also made an impact at the professional level. In his first two years of scouting with the Kansas City Royals, he was fortunate enough to receive both American League Championship and World Series rings for his part-time efforts with the club.
Eckstein rejoins the Abbotsford Cardinals, who are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history. All three levels (Bantam, Junior and Premier) finished top three in the PBL standings, as well as a 42-16 overall record for the Premier team, which finished second at the 2025 BCPBL Provincials.
The return of Corey Eckstein is poised to make an immediate impact on the Cardinals organization, BCPBL, and all of BC Baseball.
Eckstein will return to Abbotsford full-time as of January 5, 2026.
