After winning its pool with a 3-0 mark, the DBacks Langley Blaze rolled into playoffs.

And the Blaze rolled on thanks to the back-to-back dominant mound efforts of Taisei Yahiro (Abbotsford, BC) and Ryan Scott (Quispamsis N.B.) they won the first two games Sunday before losing the third game of the day.

Abbotsford Cardinals’ LHP Taisei Yahiro (Abbotsford, BC) fanned 11 in a complete-game shut out.

Playoff Game 1: Taisei Yahiro (Abbotsford, BC) pitched a complete-game win as the Blaze blanked the Dirtbags 3-0 in the first round.

Yahio struck out 11 batters in seven innings in a dominant performance. He allowing two base runners: one hit (a two-out single to Houston Koon) and a walk (leading off the sixth).

He worked consistently in the 83-86 mph range, throwing 84 pitches (64% strikes).

Daniel Martin (Langley, BC) singled and knocked in a pair of runs, while (Know When to) Holdem Cumiskey (Surrey, BC) also singled.

Langley Blaze RHP RHP Ryan Scott (Quispamsis N.B.) threw 98 pitches as the Blaze won their second game of the day.

Playoff Game 2: RHP Ryan Scott (Quispamsis N.B.) earned the win for Blaze in a 6-5 win over BPA. Scott threw 98 pitches (50% strikes) in working 5 1/3 allowing two runs on four hits and five walks. Scott fanned three, hitting 90mph on his fastball, while sitting consistently in the 87-90 mph range. Scott left with a 6-2 lead.

Ohio’s Max Johnson allowed three runs in one inning before Hayden Pilmer (Leamington, Ont.) recorded the final two outs on 13 pitches, his best at 86 mph.

With two out, the Blaze scored five in the top of the first. Hawaii’s Shane Sasaki tripled and Ohio’s Hank Thomas followed with a single. After a walk, Toronto Mets’ Ryan Leitch (Whitby, Ont.) singled in a run, (Know when to) Holdem Cumiskey (Surrey, BC) walked and Washington’s Torin Montgomery hit a two-run single.

2B Ryan Beitel (Cloverdale, BC) had two hits, including a double. Beitel is hitting .445 through six games.

Playoff Game 3: And in the third day of the game for the Blaze, the roof fell in. Well, a 2-0 deficit in the fifth inning turned into a 12-0 loss when East Coast Sox Select scored five runs each in their last two at-bats.

Bobby Witt, Jr., of Coffeyville, Tex., a projected first rounder, doubled against Langley.

Holdem Cumiskey (Surrey, BC) had one of the two hits for the Blaze.

Ontario Blue Jays’ 1B David McCabe (Courtice, Ont.) is hitting .438 through four games

Loss for the Ontario Blue Jays: Dalton Brownlee only allowed two runs, but when the Ontario Blue Jays failed to score it didn’t matter as Florida Burn Platinum scored a 4-0 win.

Brownlee (Innisfil, Ont.) pitched 2 2/3 allowing four hits and two runs, while fanning one. He threw 31 pitches (67% strikes), hitting 80mph.

Caden Griffin (Nepean, Ont.) was next allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings on a walk and a hit, as his fastball was clocked at 88mph. Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ont.) then worked two innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and two walks, while whiffing a pair. He threw 42 pitches (50% strikes), his fastball cocked at 84mph.

1B David McCabe (Courtice, Ont.) was 1-for-2 and is hitting .438 through four games. CF Dasan Brown (Oakville, Ont.) and SS Jaden Brown (Mississauga, Ont.) each had the other hits going 1-for-3. Dasan Brown is hitting .417.

Walk it off baby: Great Lake Canadians Owen Diodati (Niagara Falls, Ont.) singled in the bottom of the sixth to give the Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team a 9-8 win over the Rawlings National Scout Team.

Earlier Diodati singled in a run giving him a pair of RBIs for the game and lifting his average to .375 through four games. INF Cesar Valero (Calgary, Alta.) was hitless.

Reds score win: Will Perrin (Terrebonne, Que.), Emilien Pitre (Repentigny, Que.) and Nathan Primeau (Laval, Que.) were hitless as Team Elite Nation fell 6-0 to the Reds Midwest Scout Team.

Robin Gervais (Mascouche, Que.) did not play.
