Ex-Terriers MacNeil, Sanasie-Edwards, Ward star in the U.S. college ranks

The college baseball season has hit the home stretch and Ontario Terriers graduates continue to shine as the pressure mounts.

MacNeil masterful in Game 1 win

Right-hander Owen MacNeil threw a complete game, seven-inning shutout for the University of Charleston in their 7-0 Game 1 win over Concord. MacNeil allowed two hits, walked two and struck out 11.

Sanasie-Edwards with eight hits

Ethan Sanasie-Edwards collected eight hits, including three two-hit games for St. Clair County. He added four walks and drove in four as the Skippers went 4-2. In a 9-4 Game 3 win over Delta, he was 2-for-3 with a home run.

Ward fuels offence as Purple Eagles sweep

The Niagara Purple Eagles are flying high after taking all four of their games last week. Matt Ward put up six hits, two walks and three RBIs in a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference sweep of Saint Peter's. The Purple Eagles have won six straight and nine of their last 10.

D'Youville uses former Terrier arms

Both Kyle Nash and Sam Worthen made multiple appearances for the D'Youville Saints.

Nash threw two innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits in an 11-3 loss to Manfield. He was back on the mound in a 9-1 Game 1 loss to Mercy when he hurled 2 1/3 innings. The righty surrendered one run on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Worthen made three appearances, with the first coming in a 3-2 win over Manfield. In that one, Worthen threw a scoreless inning with a walk and strike out. He then tossed a scoreless 2/3 of an inning and struck out one in a 3-1 Game 3 loss to Mercy. To close out the week, he worked three innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts in a 3-2 win over Staten Island.

O'Halloran has two hits

Ryan O'Halloran went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Butler's 8-7 Game 1 loss to No. 15 Connecticut. Two games later he was hit by a pitch in a Game 3 loss.

Marriott, Hendrix go 2-2 in conference tournament

Sophmore Zach Marriott and Hendrix College won their first two games of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament before dropping the next two. Marriott had six hits, a walk, six RBIs and a stolen base in the four games. In the opener, an 11-3 victory over Oglethorpe, he went 3-for-4 with two three-run home runs and a walk.

Kats push win streak to 12

AJ Karosas provided the Erie Community College Kats with seven hits, five walks, seven RBIs and a stolen base to help them to a 6-0 week. The Kats have now won 12 in a row to move to 33-10-1.

Freeman drives in a pair

Outfielder Daniel Freeman went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in Cornerstone's 14-10 win over Aquinas.

Gomm goes deep

Former Baseball Canada Junior National Team shortstop Austin Gomm swatted a home run and finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a stolen base in Parkland's 6-6 tie with Lewis & Clark. He had a hit and worked a walk in a 4-1 loss to Lewis & Clark the game prior.

Forgione hits three-run home run

Cristian Forgione came through with two hits, three RBIs, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch for St. Lawrence in their three-game series with Skidmore. His big blast came via a three-run home run in an 18-8 Game 2 win. The Saints took two of three.

Ellis helps Rams to sweep

Southpaw Campbell Ellis tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits. He walked one and struck out four as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams took Game 2 of their series with Dayton by a 6-4 score. The Rams went on to sweep the three-game set.

Bayfield stellar in loss

Zachary Bayfield lasted three innings in an 11-1 Oberlin loss to Northern Ohio. Bayfield scattered three hits and a run in the outing.

Carr-Matthews comes on in relief

In a 10-6 loss to Lancaster Bible, lefty Connor Carr-Matthews threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for Wells College. He yielded three hits and struck out one.

Johnson has five-hit series

Dylan Johnson produced five hits, a walk and an RBI in Adrian College's three-game series with Alma. He had two hits in both games 2 and 3. The Bulldogs took two of three.

Earle earns win

Allan Hancock left-hander Lucas Earle picked up the win in a 9-6 victory over Santa Barbara. Earle tossed a scoreless 2/3 of an inning, walked one and struck out two.

Russell, Battlers beat Wheeling in Game 1

Julian Russell had a hit and drove in a run in a 6-5 Alderson Broaddus win over Wheeling.
