COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nevada senior infielder Jayce Dobie has been named the Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week, while San Diego State senior Aidan Russell has been selected the MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Washington State catcher Alexandre Giguère (Levis, Que.) collected the MW Baseball Freshman of the Week honour.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAYCE DOBIE, NEVADA
Senior, Infielder, Santa Clara, California/Mission College
Led Nevada to a 4-0 record on the week, including a win over Stanford and series sweep over Pacific.
Batted .526 in four starts with 10 hits, six RBIs and two runs scored.
Posted a .500 on-base percentage and a .579 slugging percentage.
Registered multi-hit games in three-of-four outings.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
AIDAN RUSSELL, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Vacaville, California/Vacaville HS
Made two relief appearances for SDSU, posting a 1-0 record and a 0.00 ERA.
Threw 6.1 innings, limiting opponents to one run and three hits.
Struck out a combined eight batters.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ALEXANDRE GIGUÉRE, WASHINGTON STATE
Catcher, Levis, Quebec, Canada/Canadian Baseball Academy
Made three appearances, including two starts, behind the plate for the Cougars.
Hit .364 with four hits, including three home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored.
Recorded an on-base percentage of .417 and a slugging percentage of 1.182.
