The Okotoks Dawgs dropped a tough one at home on Friday night, falling 12-7 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls.
Despite a quick 2-0 lead in the first and a surge of offence through the middle innings, the Dawgs couldn’t hold on for a win.
They mounted one last push with two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the comeback fell short in the ninth as the Gulls closed it out.
Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) was one of the offensive bright spots for the Dawgs, going 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.
Kadyn Williams (Pittsburgh State University) also had an impressive showing at the plate, reaching base three times and scoring twice while collecting two hits and driving in a pair of runs from the nine spot in the order.
On the mound, Dominic Wade (Ellsworth Community College) was a standout in a challenging night for the Dawgs’ pitching staff. Entering in the ninth inning, Wade delivered a clean frame, retiring all three batters he faced.
The Dawgs will now play the Energy City Cactus Rats on Saturday at Seaman Stadium.
