WINNIPEG, MAN. – Shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder hit a three-run home run in the first inning and the Winnipeg Goldeyes (50-41) made it stand up in a 3-2 victory over the Lake Country DockHounds Saturday evening at Blue Cross Park.

Third baseman Ramón Bramasco drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first before second baseman Adam Hall (London, Ont.) was hit by a pitch. Didder then hit a line-drive home run to left field to give Winnipeg a 3-0 lead.

It was Didder's 20th home run of the season.

Lake Country (52-40) scored its only runs in the top of the third. First baseman Cole Fuecker and third baseman Jake Allgeyer singled, and with two outs second baseman Ray Zuberer III lined a single to centre field that scored both runners and cut Winnipeg's lead to 3-2.

Right-hander James Colyer started for Winnipeg and allowed two earned runs on four hits over three innings. He struck out five without issuing a walk.

Luke Boyd took over in the fourth and shut out the DockHounds for five innings. Boyd allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out five.

Derrick Cherry worked a scoreless ninth, striking out two and issuing one walk.

Lake Country right-hander Trey Riley allowed all three Winnipeg runs on one hit and three walks in the first inning while striking out one. Reliever Bryce Ehr kept the Goldeyes off the scoreboard the rest of the way, allowing five hits and one walk over seven innings.

First baseman Kevin García and Bramasco each had two hits for Winnipeg, with García collecting the game's only double.

Hall stole second base in the fifth inning for his 44th stolen base of the season. That ties Adam Heisler, who swiped 44 bags in 2015, for the third-most in a season in Goldeyes history. Only Brian Duva, who stole 55 in 1997, and Fehlandt Lentini, who set the club record with 57 in 2006, have recorded more in a season.

The victory evened the three-game series at one win apiece.

The series and Winnipeg's regular-season home schedule conclude Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Cross Park. Right-hander James Bradwell (North Vancouver, B.C.) is scheduled to start for Winnipeg, while Lake Country will counter with left-hander A.J. Block.
