Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of catcher Jeremie Veilleux from Oakville, Ontario.

Veilleux is known to General Manager Jeff Lounsbury from his play at Hamilton’s McMaster University.

“I have watched Veilleux for the last two seasons in the OUA and I think he is ready to make the jump to the IBL," said Lounsbury. "Over the years, we have had some tremendous players from McMaster continue to play for the Cardinals and hopefully Jeremie will continue that tradition. I am sure he will give us strong defence and will chip in with the bat.”

Last season with McMaster, Veilleux hit .333 with four doubles and eight RBIs in 12 games.

Veilleux is currently in his fourth year at McMaster, studying Honours Commerce focusing in Accounting.

“I have always wanted to play at the highest level I could, so when I was offered the chance to play for the Cardinals, it was a no brainer," said Veilleux. "Being a student at McMaster, I am always proud to represent the city of Hamilton and I am honoured to continue doing so for the Cardinals”.

The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
