With the class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays playing a doubleheader, the Toronto Blue Jays' minor league affiliates came away from Wednesday with a 2-3 record thanks to wins from the triple-A Buffalo Bisons and low-A Lansing Lugnuts.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Durham Bulls 2

The Buffalo Bisons found some of their mojo in a 10:30 a.m.-start-time, getaway-day, series-finale against the Durham Bulls, coming away with a 5-2 victory.

Reese McGuire gave the Bisons a lead in the fourth inning with a two-run home run and was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Tim Lopes went 2-for-4 with a stolen base to push his batting average to .452 and Anthony Alford was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, scoring a run. Dalton Pompey (Mississauga, Ont.) was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rowdy Tellez was 1-for-4 with a double.

Ryan Borucki was very solid, tossing six innings of one-run ball, giving up just a solo home run to score among five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Al Alburquerque came in following a rain delay and allowed another solo home run and a walk in his inning while Jake Petricka picked up the save, striking out one over two innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 5

The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats tried to rev up the comeback train but the Binghamton Rumble Ponies outlasted them, scoring in the bottom of the ninth after the Fisher Cats had tied the game and picked up a 5-4 win over the 'Cats.

The Fisher Cats had 10 hits but seven came off the bats of three players. Patrick Cantwell was 2-for-4 with a home run and Bo Bichette was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and a stolen base. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Montreal, Que.) drove in three runs, going 3-for-4 but the club had just a double from Gunnar Heidt and singles from Jonathan Davis and Harold Ramirez.

Nick Tepesch allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Dusty Isaacs tossed 1 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out one and Zach Jackson was burned for the loss, walking four in 1 2/3 innings, giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Lakeland Flying Tigers 4

The Dunedin Blue Jays opened their doubleheader with the Lakeland Flying Tigers with a loss, despite matching the Tigers in hits but losing 4-3.

Joshua Palacios was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Nash Knight (2-for-3, CS) and D.J. Davis (2-for-3, 3B, 2 R) also had two hits each. Bradley Jones was 1-for-3 with a home run.

Patrick Murphy started and went six innings, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Connor Eller came in for the seventh and surrendered the walk-off loss to the Tigers, allowing a hit and a walk with a strikeout in one-third of an inning.

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Lakeland Flying Tigers 4

After seven more innings in the back half of a doubleheader, the Dunedin Blue Jays and Lakeland Flying Tigers battled to the same score with the Tigers winning 4-3.

Each club also had seven hits with the Blue Jays getting two apiece from Logan Warmoth (2-for-4), Bradley Jones (2-for-4, 2B, R) and Alberto Mineo (2-for-3, 2B) while Eduard Pinto was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Josh DeGraaf was on the mound to start and gave up all four runs to the Tigers over his five innings, giving up seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts. Kirby Snead struck out one in the sixth.

Lansing Lugnuts 13, Dayton Dragons 2

The Big Lug Machine keeps rolling as the Lansing Lugnuts hammered (wrenched?) the Dayton Dragons 13-2 on Wednesday.

Kevin Smith led the 14-hit attack with three hits, all doubles, driving in two runs and scoring once. Kevin Vicuna was 2-for-5 with three runs and Cullen Large had another two hits, going 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs. Samad Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run. Chavez Young was on base three times, going 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and two runs while Kacy Clemens was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, scoring a run. Javier Hernandez was also on base three times, going 1-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI and a run.

Zach Logue was very strong on the mound, giving up only one run in six innings, striking out three and allowing six hits and a walk. Dany Jimenez allowed a run on three hits with three strikeouts in two innings in one of his better outings this season and Kyle Weatherly finished the game, walking one in the ninth.
