New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Reading Fightin Phils 4

The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats came back to beat the Reading Fightin Phils with a walkoff, 5-4 victory with three runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Brandon Grudzielanek got on base thanks to an error by the Reading third baseman and, after a pop out by Forrest Wall and a stolen base by Grudzielanek, Ryan Hissey tied the ballgame up with his first home run of the year. Vinny Capra walked and stole second base and he was singled home by Joshua Palacios's base hit to win the game.

For Palacios, it was his second hit as he went 2/5 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Alberto Mineo was 2/4 with an RBI and Santiago Espinal was 2/3 with an RBI. Kacy Clemens was 1/3 with a walk and Hissey was 1/4 with the two run home run.

Patrick Murphy started and was outstanding through five innings but gave up a home run to Mickey Moniak in the sixth and was allowed two more runs in the seventh, giving him a line of 6 2/3 innings pitched with four runs (two earned) on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Ty Tice finished off the seventh and pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing two hits and striking out one and Bryan Baker got the win, striking out the side in the ninth.

Dunedin Blue Jays 0, Fort Myers Miracle 4

The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays' offence came up with nothing again on Wednesday as they fell 4-0 to the Fort Myers Miracle.

The Jays had just five hits including a double from Ryan Noda, and singles from Christopher Bec, Logan Warmoth, Chavez Young and Samad Taylor (the last three of whom all added a walk).

Maximo Castillo had a solid start, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings, striking out five before Brad Wilson finished it off, allowing a run on one hit in 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, West Michigan Whitecaps 6

The low-A Lansing Lugnuts lost another game to the West Michigan Whitecaps, falling 6-4 on Wednesday.

The Lugnuts had just seven hits but Hagen Danner hit his third home run of the year, a solo shot, going 1/4 while Mc Gregory Contreras added a double, also going 1/4 with a run. Nick Podkul was 1/4, as was D.J. Neal who drove in a run. Reggie Pruitt was 1/3 with a walk and a run and was also hit by a pitch and Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 1/4 with a walk, a run and a stolen base. Alejandro Kirk was 1/3 with two RBI, hitting a sac fly in addition to his single.

On the mound, Joey Murray was pushed around by the Whitecaps, allowing five runs on six hits (including a home run) with two walks but, interestingly, not a single ball in play went for an out as he got all six outs via the strikeout. Jackson Rees came on in the third and gave up an unearned run on four hits in five innings of relief but also got eight strikeouts and five ground ball outs (with no fly balls). Marcus Reyes allowed a hit and struck out one in two innings of work to finish the game.
