Ottawa, Ont. - Back at home to start the final series of the regular season, the Ottawa Titans were thumped by a 15-0 final to the Tri-City ValleyCats on Friday - falling out of a playoff spot.

The ValleyCats got to Titans' starter Shane Telfer early and often - plating the eventual winning run of the game on a two-out RBI double in the first off the bat of Ranko Stevanovic.

In the second, things fell apart for the Titans. Sending 12 to the plate, the ValleyCats peppered Telfer for eight runs on eight hits to blow the game open at 9-0. David Glancy and Ian Walters plated runs with singles, Amani Larry and Julian Boyd posted run-producing doubles, while Cam Jones clubbed an RBI triple as part of the big inning.

In his shortest start of the year, Telfer was done after two, allowing nine runs on 10 hits, walking two, hitting one, and striking out one.

Offensively, the Titans struggled against right-hander Easton Klein, leaving a combined six runners on base over the first three innings to be held off the board.

Klein gave the ValleyCats seven scoreless frames, allowing five runs on four hits, walking four, and striking out six. In two starts against the Titans this season, Klein did not allow a run over 16 innings.

Mac Lardner gave the Titans six solid innings out of the bullpen in the lopsided defeat. The southpaw allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, walking two, and striking out four. Lance Koch surrendered a pair of runs on three hits in one lone inning of work.

Kaiden Cardoso (Abbotsford, B.C.) went 2-for-4 with a double, while AJ Wright walked twice in the defeat.

The Titans were held off the board for the first time since May 25.

With the New York Boulders' extra innings win over the Sussex County Miners, the Titans have now fallen out of the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Conference, a half game back of the Boulders with two games to go. The Titans' magic number remains at three to clinch a playoff spot. A Boulders’ win and a Titans’ loss on Saturday could eliminate the Titans from postseason contention.

The Titans continue their three-game series against the ValleyCats on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium.
