Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) belted the 100th home run of his major league career last night.
It was a solo home run in the seventh inning off Athletics right-hander Elvis Alvarado that proved to be the difference in the Mariners’ 3-2 win.
With that, Naylor became the 12th player born in Canada to hit 100 MLB homers.
Prior to Naylor, Tyler O’Neill (Maple Ridge, B.C.) had been the most recent Canadian to reach 100-home run milestone when he went deep against New York Yankees right-hander Michael Tonkin on July 27, 2024.
