JNT Fall Instructional League: O’Halloran deals, juniors fall to Braves

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida – The Atlanta Braves’ Fall Instructional League club used 16 hits and limited the Junior National Team to just three to score a 10-0 decision on Thursday afternoon at Champions Stadium on the grounds of ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Making his Junior National Team debut, left-handed pitcher Connor O’Halloran (Mississauga, Ont.) put up zeroes over three innings of work that included three strikeouts while Dasan Brown (Oakville, Ont.) had a single and stolen base.

SCORING

-An error and bases loaded walk issued by starting pitcher Theo Millas (Burnaby, BC) gave the Braves a 2-0 lead after one inning and they went on to add another run in the second coming on an RBI single to centre.

-A double and single in the third gave them a 4-0 lead while ending Millas’ three-inning outing.

-Evan O’Toole (Bridgewater, N.S.) took the mound in the seventh and allowed a lead off triple and single to score one run before a base hit and hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded counted two more runs for the Braves.

-The Braves would go on to add a pair of runs in the eighth to round out their scoring.

QUICK HITS

-O’Halloran worked his way out of trouble in the fourth getting a pair of strikeouts after allowing back-to-back, one-out doubles. He faced just seven batters over the next two frames including a perfect inning to end the sixth.

-Dasan Brown led off with a single in the eighth and promptly stole second base but was left stranded.

-Owen Diodati (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and Eric Martin (Kitchener, Ont.) each had singles while Micah McDowell (Coldbrook, N.S.) added a stolen base.

The Junior National Team will be back at Champion Stadium in Lake Buena Vista tomorrow for an inter-squad game with the first pitch set to fly at 1 p.m. E.T.
