Ottawa-Nepean Canadians alum Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, Ont.) has been named the class-A Advanced Florida State League’s Player of the Month for June.

Minor League Baseball made the announcement on Wednesday as part of their Uncle Ray's Player of the Month Awards they name for each of the 10 affiliated leagues.

For the month of June, Orimoloye, an outfielder with the Dunedin Blue Jays, topped the Florida State League in batting average (.342), RBIs (21), slugging percentage (.644) - which led the league by 100 points - and OPS (1.051). The talented Canadian also finished second in total bases (47), triples (two) and home runs (five) and was third in on-base percentage (.407).

Orimoloye also hit safely in 17 of 20 games and notched seven multi-hit games in June.

The 22-year-old, who also honed his skills with the Canadian Junior National Team, was originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB draft out of St. Matthew Catholic Secondary School in Orleans, Ont. He was acquired by the Blue Jays in exchange for Curtis Granderson on August 31, 2018.

Orimoloye is now in his fifth season in the professional ranks. In total, in 408 minor league games, he has batted .233 with 354 hits, 40 home runs and 110 stolen bases.
