Official Ottawa Titans News Release

Ottawa, Ont. - In front of a Frontier League playoff record crowd of 7,912, the Ottawa Titans edged the New York Boulders 3-2 on Friday night to sweep the series and advance to the League Championship Series for the first time in franchise history.

For a third consecutive game in the series, the Titans got off to a quick start in the opening inning. Boulders lefty Garrett Peters plunked Jackie Urbaez to lead off the frame before walking Rainer Nuñez with two outs, putting a pair on. With Taylor Wright (North Vancouver, B.C.) at the dish, Peters uncorked a wild pitch, leading to Urbaez scoring all the way from second to put the Titans on the board.

Making his second start of the postseason, Evan Grills (Whitby, Ont.) used the early momentum to pace the Titans to the win. The veteran Canadian southpaw pitched out of a second-and-third one-out jam in the fourth to strand the bases loaded, en route to five innings of one-run ball.

In the fourth, Taylor Wright opened the threat with his third double of the playoffs, standing in scoring position. Following a Jake Steels walk, Thomas Ferroggiaro put two in scoring position with a sac bunt. Next, Hunter Stokely blew it open with a two-run single to centre, putting the Titans ahead 3-0.

Peters left the game after four innings, allowing three runs on four hits. After that, the Boulders' bullpen navigated through four scoreless innings, surrendering just three hits.

Matt McDermott connected in the fifth for a leadoff solo homer to left, putting the Boulders on the board.

Grills left following five solid innings, allowing one run on four hits, walking two, and striking out seven.

Christian Scafidi punched out a pair in the sixth, keeping the Titans ahead by two.

Brett Garcia limited the damage over two innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits and striking out two.

The Boulders made it a one-run game in the seventh, as Austin Dennis poked an RBI single to right. Threatening with two away, the visitors had two in scoring position with two outs when Julian Boyd attempted to steal home on a toss back to the pitcher, being cut down at the plate to end the inning.

Liu Fuenmayor threw a scoreless ninth, wrapping up the slim one-run win.

Hunter Stokely was the lone member of the offence with a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jackie Urbaez and Jake Steels each singled, while Taylor Wright doubled and drew a free pass.

The Titans now have swept back-to-back series - and in the process, become the first Atlantic Conference team since the Frontier League merger post-pandemic to sweep the now Atlantic Conference Championship Series.

With their first trip to the Finals set in stone, the Titans will now await the winner of the Midwest Conference Championship between the Washington Wild Things and the Evansville Otters.

The Titans continue the 2026 playoffs, playing Game 1 of the Frontier League best-of-five Championship Series against a team TBD on Tuesday night at a time TBD. Games 1 and 2 will be hosted by the Midwest Conference winner, with Games 3, 4 and 5 in Ottawa starting Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium.
