Fort McMurray, AB — The Okotoks Dawgs won the second game of a three-game series 5-2 over the Fort McMurray Giants at Shell Place.

For the second-straight game, J.T. Patterson (Bellevue University) pinch hit and drove in Richard Mascarenas (Linn-Benton Community College), who reached on a double, for the game-winning run in the sixth.

Cody Ebert (Columbia College) bounced back after his shakiest start of the season for the Dawgs (17-10) and went seven innings, struck out five and saw his record improved to 4-1.

The Dawgs struck first in the second when Abdiel Alicea (Tabor College) led off with a single. Two batters later, Ryan Humeniuk (Indian Hills Community College) swatted his second home run of the season.

Jaiin McMillan answered in the second with a two-run double to right field that plated Drew Dickerson and Tristan Richardson.

With the Dawgs up 3-2 in the top of the eighth, Matt Ottsen loaded the bases with none out. Marcus Skundrich (Mesa Community College) and Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University) picked up sacrifice fly RBIs.

Craig Smith (Columbia College) worked for the second-straight night and picked up his seventh save for the Dawgs.

Chris Mecure went six innings for the Giants (9-19), allowed three earned runs and struck out four as his record evened up to 2-2.
