The Boston Red Sox have announced the following roster moves:
-Recalled right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts from triple-A Worcester.
-Recalled infielder David Hamilton from triple-A Worcester.
-Designated infielder/outfielder Abraham Toro (Longueuil, Que.) for assignment.
Fitts, 25, has made 10 starts for Boston this season, posting a 4.83 ERA. The right-hander has also recorded a 3.60 ERA in seven minor league starts with Worcester (six starts) and double-A Portland (one). Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Alabama native owns a 3.79 ERA in 14 career Major League games, all starts for the Red Sox (2024-25).
Hamilton, 27, has played in 69 games this season, making 31 starts at second base and six at shortstop while batting .174 with 17 stolen bases. The left-handed hitter has also played in nine games for Worcester, going 11-for-39 with two home runs. Originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the eighth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has hit .218 with 52 stolen bases in 182 career Major League games, all with Boston (2023-25).
Toro, 28, has played in 77 games this season, batting .239 with 13 doubles, seven home runs, and 27 RBIs while making 57 starts at first base, and 10 at third base. The switch-hitter has also played in 28 games for Worcester, batting .310 with an .883 OPS. Originally selected by the Houston Astros in the fifth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Quebec native has hit .223 with 41 home runs and 161 RBIs in 442 career games with the Astros (2019-21), Seattle Mariners (2021-22), Milwaukee Brewers (2023), Oakland Athletics (2024), and Red Sox (2025).
