The Colorado Rockies have outrighted Edouard Julien to the triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

The move came after the club designated him for assignment on Tuesday and the 27-year-old Quebec City native cleared waivers.

In 88 games with the Rockies this season, Julien had a .208/.322/.292 slash line with three home runs and 20 RBIs. He collected 39 walks and five stolen bases while serving as the club’s starting second baseman for much of the campaign.

On January 28, Julien was traded to the Rockies, along with right-hander Pierson Ohl, in exchange for pitching prospect Jace Kaminska and cash considerations.

This season marks the second consecutive year that Julien has struggled at the plate at the big league level. In 2025, he batted .220 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 64 games with the Twins.

Julien is looking to recapture his 2023 form when he batted .263 with 16 home runs and a .381 on-base percentage in 109 games with the Twins. That season, he finished seventh in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

That came on the heels of his breakout performance at the 2023 World Baseball Classic when he batted leadoff for Canada and went 7-for-13 (.538 batting average) with two home runs and five walks in four games. He suited up for Canada at the WBC again this past March.

Selected in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB draft by the Twins, the ABC and Junior National Team alum spent parts of three seasons in the Twins’ minors before making his big league debut.

The left-handed hitting Julien has been primarily a second baseman during his pro career, he has also played 43 big league games at first base.

Julien has less than three years of major league service time, so he can’t elect free agency. He’ll head to Albuquerque and hope to rediscover his batting stroke in triple-A.

Julien had been one of two Canadians on the Rockies’ roster. Right-hander Jordan Romano (Markham, Ont.) has served as the team’s closer since his call-up on July 4.
