Official London Majors Press Release

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of outfielder Humberto Ruiz who returns to pinstripes for the first time since 2017.

The London resident had a successful tenure with the Majors from 2014 to 2017 when he batted .279 with 38 RBIs and 43 stolen bases.

Ruiz also took part in the Legacy Classic in 2020 and went 1-for-5, while showing his speed on the bases and in the outfield making a couple of running catches.

“When I arrived in Canada I thought that playing baseball was over for me, that's when I found the London Majors and I met Roop [Chanderdat] and my life shined again. Every year I look forward to the summer to share with the great family that we are the Majors. Thank you, Roop, for trusting me and giving me the opportunity.”

“I am very happy to have Humberto back with the Majors,” said Chanderdat, who is the Majors’ co-owner, manager and general manager. “Humberto is a very hard-working guy who is always trying to improve his craft. He is a good contact hitter that gets on base and brings a lot of speed to our lineup.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
