WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized Dayton junior Martin Howell as its Under Armour Baseball Player of the Week, while his freshman teammate Grayson Carpenter collected Rookie of the Week.
George Mason senior Logan Rumberg (Okotoks, Alta.) earned Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
The awards are from games played Feb. 23 to March 1.
Howell batted .421 across a 4-1 week for Dayton. At the plate, he went 8-for-19 with 13 RBIs and a pair of home runs. The catcher from Gillette, N.J., scored five runs and one double.
Rumberg started in George Mason’s combined no-hitter against Lehigh, resulting in a 3-0 Patriots’ victory. The right-handed pitcher from Okotoks, Alta., tossed six hitless innings. Rumberg struck out six batters in the victory at Capital One Park.
Carpenter, an outfielder, went 6-for-15 across five games for Dayton. The Fort Myers, Fla., native connected for doubles and scored four runs. Carpenter also drove in four RBIs.
