Official Saskatoon Berries News Release

The Saskatoon Berries Baseball Club, in partnership with the Western Canadian Baseball League, are thrilled to announce the NexGen Patch at Cairns Field will host the 2026 WCBL All-Star Weekend on July 18 and 19, 2026 in Saskatoon.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the best of the WCBL to Saskatoon for the 2026 All-Star Weekend,” said Steve Hildebrand, president of the Saskatoon Berries.

“Since we announced the return of a baseball team in Saskatoon, the support for the Berries has been nothing short of overwhelming. Fans have been packing the ballpark every night, so we felt we owed it to them, the baseball community, and our city to apply for this event and do something special.”

The WCBL All-Star Game and Home Run Derby have traditionally taken place in a single day but in cooperation with the WCBL, the Berries will be hosting the league’s first ever two-day event.

“The Western Canadian Baseball League is excited to come to Saskatchewan for the first time in this era and more specifically, the great City of Saskatoon!” said Kevin Kvame, WCBL President.

“The Berries have proven to be the innovative, dynamic, and engaged franchise that we expected of them, and we are thrilled to work with their vision for a fantastic 2026 All-Star Weekend.”

“When the opportunity to bid on the All-Star game was presented, in true Berries fashion, we wanted to do something different,” explained Tyler Wawryk, vice-president of business operations with the Berries.

“Our goal is to include our fans and community into the event, and to also create a full festival environment for the weekend. We have some exciting things in the works and as we get closer, we’ll be able to share more details, but we can assure you this will be the sweetest baseball event Saskatoon has ever seen.”
