Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release
The Okotoks Dawgs were a frontrunner once again in the 2025 Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) season, and the league recognized that dominance by naming six Dawgs players to its All-Star teams, including three on the prestigious First Team.
The collective excellence of these players was instrumental in the Dawgs' first-place finish in the West Division.
WCBL All-Star First Team: The Elite Core
The Dawgs' All-Star First Team selections highlight the league's top talent, anchored by a trio of offensive standouts:
Connor Crowson (Infielder)
The hometown hero, Connor "Crow Show" Crowson, had a season for the ages, culminating in him being named the WCBL Most Outstanding Canadian. A consistent force at the corner infield positions, Crowson was an on-base machine. He led the WCBL with an exceptional .503 on-base percentage and finished second in the league with a scorching .401 batting average. His overall offensive production was top-tier, featuring a 1.077 OPS, 51 runs scored, and 45 RBIs.
Zane Skansi (Outfielder)
In his debut WCBL season, Zane Skansi immediately established himself as one of the league's best, earning the WCBL Rookie of the Year award alongside his First Team selection. The dynamic outfielder was a nightmare for opposing pitchers and catchers, posting a 1.088 OPS (third-best in the league) while hitting 11 home runs (tied for third) and swiping 22 bases (tied for seventh). Skansi's combination of power, speed, and a .363 batting average made him a truly complete offensive threat.
Barry Eiseman (Designated Hitter)
In his second year with the Dawgs, veteran Barry Eiseman solidified his role as a consistent run producer and deserved his spot as the First Team Designated Hitter. Known for his clutch hitting, Eiseman posted a stellar .387 batting average in the regular season while driving in 21 runs and recording nine doubles. He delivered key hits throughout the year, including an RBI double in the team's playoff opener, proving his worth as a staple in the heart of the Dawgs' lineup.
WCBL All-Star Third Team: Bullpen Anchor
Chase Tucker (Relief Pitcher)
The Dawgs' bullpen was a strength, and Chase Tucker was a major reason why, earning a spot on the Third Team. The Newfoundlander proved to be one of the WCBL's most dependable relief arms, building on his experience from the previous year. Tucker showcased exceptional control and reliability, appearing in 25 games and posting a sharp 2.70 ERA with a 3-1 record across his 26 2/3 innings of work. His ability to consistently record tough outs in high-leverage situations was critical to the Dawgs' success.
WCBL All-Star Honourable Mention: Defensive and Offensive Pillars
Rounding out the impressive contingent were two players who provided elite performance and stability in key positions:
Logan Grant (Catcher)
A true team leader and four-time All-Star, Logan Grant's inclusion on the Honourable Mention list recognized his consistently high level of play both behind the plate and with the bat. Known for his veteran presence and ability to manage the pitching staff, Grant was also a clutch hitter, often finding himself in the middle of the order and coming through with timely singles and doubles, including an RBI single in the playoffs. His overall impact—defensively, offensively, and in the clubhouse—was immeasurable.
Jake Skaggs (Outfielder)
Jake Skaggs provided the Dawgs with a dynamic and reliable presence in the outfield. As a consistent run-scorer and hitter, Skaggs was one of the many talented bats that populated the Dawgs' deep lineup. He was known for his ability to hit for contact and use his speed to make plays defensively, further cementing the Dawgs' reputation for high-level talent across the diamond.
