Terriers catcher Tyson Gomm (Mississauga, Ont.) recently committed to San Jacinto College in Houston Texas.

He has been on quite a roll over the past six months. In addition to competing at Tournament 12 where he was named tournament MVP, he was also selected to the Junior National Team roster last fall.

The San Jacinto Gators Baseball Program is one of the most storied and successful baseball programs in the U.S. with five National Championships and 26 ‎JUCO World Series appearances. In the last five years, 18 San Jacinto players have been selected in the MLB first-year player draft.

Gomm is a confident left-handed hitting catcher. He is athletic, quick, strong, has a plus arm and above average blocking skills. His foot speed and fast hands also gives him the versatility to play almost any other position on the field.

At the plate, he hits for average from gap to gap and has power to right and right-centre field.

He recently wrapped up his first trip with the Junior National Team where he competed well against pro teams such as the Jays and Phillies in Florida.

Last year, the Aspen Institute for Community College Excellence named San Jacinto College one of the top 10 community colleges in the nation. Notable baseball alumni include Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens and Matt Albers.

Some of Gomm's other accomplishments include being selected to the 2018 and 2019 PBR Future Games. He was also on the roster in Oklahoma at the highly competitive Sunbelt Tournament.
