Turcotte, three other Canucks, help Mohawk Valley win division _ Updated

There aren’t any perfect seasons ... even in the Perfect Game Collegiate League.

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs went 26-19 to win the PGCBL Central Division by one game over the Watertown Rapids, who were 26-21.

Four Canucks contributed to the DiamondDawgs season: RHP Nathan Holmes (Mississauga, Ont.), RHP Alex MacKinnon (Aurora, Ont.), Joe Tevlin (Toronto, Ont.) and RHP Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ont.). Watertown eliminated Mohawk Valley 3-2 in the playoffs.

Turcotte was 2-1 with a 3.27 ERA in six games, making five starts. A former Ontario Terrier, he walked 14 and struck out 25 in 22 innings. He returns to Stony Brook for his junior season. Last spring Turcotte was 1-0 with a 4.03 ERA for the Seawolves. He walked seven and fanned 22 1/3 innings, 

Team Ontario grad RHP Alex MacKinnon (Aurora, Ont.).

MacKinnon was 1-1 in 13 games with a 6.48 ERA, walking 19 and fanning 16 in 16 2/3 innings. A Team Ontario grad he will return to the Niagara Purple Eagles, where he was 1-5 with a 9.28 ERA in 17 games. He walked 15 and fanned 19 in 21 1/3 innings.

Ontario Terriers grad  Joe Tevlin (Toronto, Ont.)

Tevlin batted .180 in 26 games with three doubles, a triple, two homers and 13 RBIs. Last spring in upstate New York, Tevlin batted .240 with five doubles, a triple and 13 RBIs. He had a .591 OPS in 42 games. Tevlin was also a Terrier, whose parent loved the program so much they bought have of the business. 

Ontario Blue Jays grad RHP Nathan Holmes (Mississauga, Ont.)

Holmes pitched two scoreless innings and will return to LSU-Eunice Bengals. At LSU-Eunice, last spring he was 0-1 with a 5.56 ERA. The Ontario Blue Jays grad walked six and struck out 15 in 11 1/3 innings in 11 games, including a pair of starts.

William Perrin (Terrebone, Que.) was with the Elmira Pioneers, third-place finishers in the West Division with a 21-26 record, 11 games behind the Jamestown Jammers. Elmira lost 7-5 to the Geneva Red Wings.
