The West Coast League’s Kelowna Falcons have added pitching coach Josh Towers to the coaching staff for the 2026 season as new manager Gregg Zaun continues to build his bench coaches.
Towers is a former major league pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed an eight-year career, appearing in 139 games with three different teams. He was part of the Blue Jays’ pitching staff from 2003-2007, recording 37 wins and 316 strikeouts. He was a workhorse in 2005 when he recorded 13 wins and a 3.71 ERA while logging over 200 innings in the ultra-competitive American League East.
In 2009, he joined the New York Yankees and helped them win a World Series ring when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies.
Towers re-joins former Blue Jay battery mate Zaun and former Victoria Harbourcats manager Graig Merritt as a member of the 2026 Falcons coaching staff which now boasts three ex-professional baseball players.
“Josh brings a wealth of professional baseball experience to Kelowna as well as an intimate knowledge of the mechanics and metrics of pitching,” says Zaun. “I’m excited to see how he develops our pitching staff, making them better pitchers for when they return to school.”
The Falcons’ 2026 season opens on May 29, 2026.
