Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs lost 9-6 to the Sylvan Lake Gulls in front of 6,474 fans at Seaman Stadium on Canada Day.
The Dawgs’ offence was led by Jacob Wrubleski (Okotoks, Alta.) who went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBIs.
Ricky Sanchez (Gonzaga University) also had two hits and two RBIs, while Landon Kauffman (Vancouver, B.C.) enjoyed a 3-for-4 night.
The bullpen once again shone for the Dawgs, combining to throw six innings.
One of the bright spots was Wyatt Sadleir (Calgary, Alta.) who threw a scoreless sixth. Brody Burnette also contributed a 1-2-3 seventh, while veteran Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) tossed a scoreless ninth in his final Canada Day as a Dawg.
With the loss, the Dawgs fell to 20-8 on the season.
The Dawgs will continue their homestand on Thursday with a game against the Fort McMurray Giants. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
