Baseball Canada has announced the names of the 20 athletes who will represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Fla., from September 9 to 18.

The Junior National Team battled Team Australia to a 4-4 tie in Bradenton, Fla., in the second exhibition game of the Selection Camp in preparation for the WBSC 18U Baseball World Cup.

On Friday, the Junior National Team played their first exhibition game in Florida against the Toronto Blue Jays FCL squad as part of their (WBSC) U-18 World Baseball Cup selection camp and came away with a 1-1 tie. The game needed to be stopped in the middle of the seventh inning due to bad weather.

On Thursday, the Junior National Team (JNT) bats were on fire in the third game of their four-game exhibition series against the Toronto Blue Jays Academy Scout Team. They collected a total of 15 hits, resulting in a 20-3 victory in a 10-inning match-up.

On Wednesday, the JNT overcame a late deficit to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays Academy Scout Team 14-9 in a 12-inning exhibition game.

Two more Baseball Canada champions were crowned on Sunday with the Parkland Twins (Alberta) winning the gold medal at the 13U National Western Championship while the Mississauga Tigers (Ontario) captured the title at the 18U Championship.

Baseball Canada National Championship season is about to kick into high gear on Thursday with the 18U and 13U National Western set for Fort McMurray, Alta., and Swift Current, Sask., respectively.

Baseball Canada has announced the names of the 24 athletes invited to the Junior National Team’s (U-18) Selection Camp set to take place in Ajax, Ont., from August 20 to August 29 where 20 players will be selected to represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup in Bradenton and Sarasota, Fla., from September 9 to September 18.

Québec capped an undefeated week at the 21U Women’s Invitational in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador with a 13-9 win over BC in the championship contest to claim the gold medal.

Alberta will face Ontario in the gold medal game at the Canada Summer Games on Saturday.
