A tooth infection that required emergency surgery has limited Vauxhall Baseball Academy graduate Carson Perkins to 16 innings in six appearances in his first year at Canisius College. But the 6-foot-5 right-hander, who lost 30 pounds after enduring two root canal surgeries, has recuperated and is enjoying being part of his collegiate squad. After making adjustments throughout his freshman season and gaining a new understanding of what the collegiate baseball life was like, Calgary native and Vauxhall Academy grad Jared Kennedy returned to Canisius College for his sophomore campaign with a new outlook.

Right-hander Josh Shepley (Windsor, Ont.) was midway through his junior season at Canisius College when he was told he needed Tommy John surgery. This forced him to miss his senior season. Set to graduate in the coming weeks with a degree in finance, Shepley hopes to return to the mound at Canisius next year as a grad school student.
