Votto to be presented with Canadian ball hall's Tip O'Neill Award

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame will present Joey Votto (Etobicoke, Ont.) with its Tip O'Neill Award on Friday. It’s the seventh time in eight years that Votto has taken home the honour. Canada’s baseball shrine presents this award annually to the Canadian player judged to have excelled in individual achievement and team contribution while adhering to baseball’s highest ideals.

Votto named winner of Lou Gehrig Memorial Award

Etobicoke, Ont., native Joey Votto has won this year’s Lou Gehrig Memorial Award, sponsored by the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity, headquartered in Oxford, Ohio. Phi Delta Theta presents the award annually to a big league player who best exemplifies the giving character of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, a member of the Fraternity’s Columbia University chapter.
