Canadian lefty Dawson learning to just be himself

Canadian Shane Dawson understands culture shock and how it works in professional baseball. The left-handed pitcher hails from Fort McMurray, northern Alberta, and it was a challenge for him to adapt to a new environment and new languages after he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. Many of the players he suited up alongside in the Blue Jays' system spoke Spanish, while others were from the same city or same college and Dawson used to feel left out. But the young lefty learned the key was to loosen up, and just be himself and these days he's fitting in well. Toronto Observer reporter Swapnil Thakare shares Dawson's story.
