Florida native returns to sun, comfort with Dunedin Jays

One Toronto Blue Jays prospect who thrives in the warm weather is pitcher Kirby Snead. The 6-foot lefty grew up in Alachua, Fla., a short 25-minute drive from the University of Florida campus where he pitched for the Gators. Over the past two seasons, Snead has had to get used to colder weather when pitching for the low-A Lansing Lugnuts. Fortunately for him, his success earned him a promotion to the class-A Dunedin Blue Jays in 2017 where he was close to home and able to toe the rubber in warmer weather. All utility infielders play multiple positions, however, Toronto Blue Jays’ prospect Hagen Danner took that concept to a new level growing up in the game. Hall of Famer's son making a name for himself in Jays' system

Toronto Blue Jays prospect Cavan Biggio may have aspired to be a home run hitter like Jeff Bagwell in his childhood, but he’s developing into a player more like his Hall of Famer dad, Craig. The Blue Jays' 2016 fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame has earned praise in scouting circles for his polished, high-contact hitting and solid defence at second base, traits that led his father Craig to seven All-Star appearances over his 20-year career. Centennial College Journalism student Ryan Cuneo spoke with the younger Biggio at the Bobby Mattick Training Center in Dunedin, Fla., on Thursday.
