Dawgs sign five players

The Okotoks Dawgs have signed five additional players for the upcoming 2019 campaign. The club has secured commitments from a pair of Bellevue University Bruins in returning star Riley Baasch and Kory Longaker, Iowa Western’s Isaiah Peterson, Canadian Austin Oulds (Chatham, Ont.) of Lourdes University, and former Dawgs Rookie of the Year Will Hollis (Texas State University).

UFV Cascades and Fraser Valley Cardinals experience spring training in Arizona

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades spent a week in Tucson, Ariz., earlier this month, facing American competition as they prepare for the 2019 Canadian Colleges Baseball Conference season. The Cascades have made this an annual event since 2017, but this year’s trip was different. The Cascades were joined this time by the B.C. Premier Baseball League’s Fraser Valley Cardinals.

Medicine Hat High School first Canadian squad in prestigious U.S. tournaments

Under the leadership of former Canadian Junior National Team member and Atlanta Braves draft pick, Lyall Foran, the Medicine Hat High School Baseball Institute is thriving. The high school club, which consists entirely of local players, has also become the first true high school team from Canada to travel to the United States to compete in the prestigious Mingo Bay Classic and San Diego Lions tournaments.
