The Okotoks Dawgs Academy program won three championships this past weekend. Their teams emerged victorious at the 18U Kelowna Invitational and the 15U of the Best of the West JV Tournament, and their 14U club won the Bantam AA Division of the Best of the West JV Tournament.

Heather: Remembering ex-Negro League players that played for the Galt Terriers

The Ontario Terriers are paying homage to Jackie Robinson today. He was the first black player to cross Major League Baseball’s colour barrier. During the late 40’s and early 50’s after the colour barrier was lifted by professional baseball, many ex-Negro League players travelled to Canada to join various leagues and teams. They were welcomed with open arms, and fit in comfortably with their new surroundings. A number of the players came to Galt Ont., now Cambridge, and played for the Galt Terriers of the Sr. Inter-County Baseball League at Dickson Park.

Jays Care invests more than $1.3 million in community baseball across Canada

On Sunday, the Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, announced that it will make an infrastructure investment of $1.3 million to benefit Canadian children and youth through its Field Of Dreams program. Fifteen organizations located across five provinces and one territory will receive funding to build, enhance, and refurbish baseball diamonds where children and youth can develop important life skills and learn from positive role models.

Kissock reunites with college teammates for Lewis-Clark State hall induction

Chris Kissock (Trail, B.C.) and his family took a journey back in time on Saturday. The pitching ace and his 2007 Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) Warriors baseball team were inducted into the Lewis-Clark Hall of Fame in Lewiston, Idaho. Kissock reunited with his teammates from the 2007 NAIA World Series Championship team at a ceremony at the Clearwater Riverside Casino and Lodge Event Centre.
