Meet Ashlynn Jolicoeur: SportsCenter sensation and future Blue Jay?

Day after day, morning and night, Ashlynn Jolicoeur plays baseball. Before hitting the books, the nine-year-old starts her day by heading to her backyard to hit off a tee or practice her swing, attaching a cloth tail to the bat to increase air resistance and build muscle. And hitting is not even her favourite part of playing, she loves playing defense, that much is evident in the video of her determinedly diving for balls at a practice at the Oshawa Sportsplex that was shared on ESPN SportsCenter and has now been viewed more than 18 million times. Canadian Baseball Network writer J.P. Antonacci recently caught up with Ashlynn to talk about her passion for the sport and her future goals.

Muenster Baseball celebrates a stellar year

“The boys of summer may have packed up the gear and emptied the dugouts, but for the Muenster Red Sox and their supporters, it was time to gather once more to celebrate what’s been an extraordinary year. On Sunday evening, October 21, the Red Sox teams, coaches, parents, and umpires congregated in the Muenster Community Hall for the Muenster Ball Recognition Night.”

It's show time at tourney of the year in Jupiter

It’s that time of the year again when Canadians flock south. And every hotel room from West Palm Beach to Hobe Sound is booked. The draw is not the sandy beaches but rather the manicured dirt at home plate and on the base paths on the diamonds at the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter, Fla. A total of 92 travelling teams of high schoolers - including some Canadian squads - are playing for the 21st annual Perfect Game Scouting Service’s World Wood Bat world championship.
