Lethbridge Bulls catcher Noah Or has gotten off to a cracking start in the Western Canadian Baseball League. Through nine games, the Richmond, B.C., native is leading the WCBL in batting average (.486), runs (15), hits (17), and on-base percentage (.568). He also hit a home run at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks on June and has posted nine runs batted in (RBI). Ian Wilson, of the Alberta Dugout Stories, recently caught up to Or for his latest “Three Up, Three Down” column.

“Canada Day is always a special place in Okotoks, AB. Every year the WCBL Okotoks Dawgs take the field in front of a packed house to celebrate Canada’s birthday in style. This year was no different. The province of Alberta lifted many regulations, which enabled the ecstatic Dawgs fanbase to return to Seaman Stadium. Dawgs Black took the field in front of 3500+ fans, while special guest Jason Kenney (Premier of Alberta) took in the special night. For baseball fans, having the WCBL back to full capacity in Okotoks is something many were excited about but just across the road at Tourmaline and Conrad Field, excitement inhabited both parks over four days as the 15U Dawgs (Black and Red) host their annual Canada Day Classic.”

Easing of restrictions too little, too late for HarbourCats

The provincial British Columbia government announced on Tuesday that after July 1, outdoor gatherings in the province can have up to 5,000 people in attendance, or up to 50% capacity, whichever is greater. While that is great news for many in the province, it is too little, too late for sports teams like the Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls, who had to make critical business decisions two months ago regarding the 2021 West Coast League Baseball season.
