Elliott: Emily drove, Jordan pitched, as Woods siblings had 95-day US tour

“It wasn’t your typical brother and sister summer vacation. In the end, it all worked out for the best. As soon as Len and Julie Woods heard Ontario was headed into another lockdown in early April, they flew their daughter Emily Woods, 19, who had completed her first year at York University, and younger brother Jordan Woods to Florida. After all, a young man has to pitch. So lefty Jordan Woods (Oakville, Ont.) of the Ontario Terriers and sister Emily embarked on their own two-person vacation. They did experience some problems. Emily is studying for an honours BA but few professors prepared her for the course structure. Emily was too young to rent a car in Florida and too young to check into most hotels for that matter.”

Jackson, Nicoll earn Dave Wallace scholarship award

Cody Jackson and Trevor Nicoll were front and centre Saturday afternoon at Inouye/Wallace field at Springwood Park in Parksville, BC. OF Jackson (Parksville, BC) is headed to play for the British Columbia Thunderbirds and INF Nicoll (Coombs, BC) is headed to the Victoria Island University Mariners. While Jackson and Nicoll were the two honoured, the man most people were thanking about was the late Parksville Royals co-founder, coach, pitching guru and mentor to many ... the late Dave Wallace -- the man who the field is named after, along with Clyde Inouye. Wallace’s family awarded the inaugural David Wallace memorial scholarship to the honoured pair of players. Wallace served as president of Oceanside Minor (1992-1994), co-founded the Parksville Royals in 1995 and the helped create the BC Premier League, Canada’s leading high school league.

ASTV airs New Zealand baseball, Thai hockey and a multitude of North American amateur sports, with plans to expand to Sweden and Switzerland. That’s on top of broadcasting high school and college baseball in Florida, along with junior baseball, hockey, lacrosse, soccer and football games in several U.S. states, Western Canada and Ontario.”
