Roy Yamamura became the first individual Vancouver Asahi team member individual into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday night. Renowned for his leadership abilities, Yamamura was a base-stealer, batting champion and an MVP award-winning shortstop with the legendary Vancouver Asahi during his close to two decades with the team. And when you read his story and the hardships he was forced to endure, it’s a testament to his resiliency, ability to forgive and his passion for baseball that he continued to be a positive voice for the sport in Canada until his death in 1990
