“Record numbers of fans are crowding into Western Canadian Baseball League ballparks this summer to enjoy collegiate baseball at the highest level.

The WCBL has seen attendance reach 307,642 people over 286 games during the 2024 regular season, surpassing the 305,425 fans who showed up during the 2023 regular season.”

Verge: Surrey’s Bourgeois prepares for 3 a.m. NBC World Series start

“Sacrificing sleep to sling baseballs well into the night is a welcome renouncement for Canadian right hander Noah Bourgeois.

Instead of being cozy under the covers, at 3 a.m. Sunday, Bourgeois will be reporting for pitching duty.

His mission?

Get the win.

The right hander from Surrey, B.C. will be starting the game for the Haysville Aviators in the NBC World Series July 28 at three in the morning. The tournament will see 16 summer collegiate teams from around the U.S. competing for a national championship in Wichita, Kan.”

Glew: Stairs brings hitting wisdom to Okotoks for third straight year

Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee and longtime big league slugger Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.) was back in Okotoks, Alta., this weekend as a celebrity guest at the Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star Game at Seaman Stadium.
