Canadian Cerantola fits in well at Mississippi State in freshman season

Each summer, many baseball players have to make the tough choice to either come to college or sign a professional contract after being selected in the MLB Draft. Great Lake Canadians alum and Oakville, Ont., native, Eric Cerantola, however, not only faced that dilemma but also had to choose which sport he wanted to play. He was drafted by both the Tampa Bay Rays in baseball and the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League. Logan Lowery, a writer with the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, writes that Cerantola choose neither and instead opted to head to Mississippi State to pitch at the collegiate level for the Bulldogs.

Proud Canadian Dempster humbled by ball hall induction

The last time Ryan Dempster (Gibsons, BC) appeared in a competitive baseball game, he wore the Maple Leaf across his chest as a member of Team Canada at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. On Saturday in St Marys, Ont., one of the best Canadian pitchers of all time wore the Maple Leaf once again, this time on a blazer announcing him as a newly minted member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Canadian Baseball Network writer J.P. Antonacci spoke with Dempster prior to the ceremony.
