2020 Women’s Baseball World Cup awarded to Monterrey

Monterrey, Mexico will host the 2020 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women’s Baseball World Cup next November, the international federation announced yesterday at the III WBSC World Baseball Softball Congress in Sakai, Osaka, Japan. The Canadian Women’s National Team gained entry into the event last summer via a third place finish at the COPABE Americas Women’s Baseball World Cup Qualifier in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Fergie Jenkins Foundation at odds with Sport Card & Memorabilia Expo

The Fergie Jenkins Foundation continues to boycott the massive Sport Card and Memorabilia Expo. The foundation is unhappy that the folks running the event twice a year on Airport Road in Mississauga, Ont. blocked the foundation from bringing in former Expos players to sign autographs last May. Because of that friction, the foundation declined to have any players appear at the event this past weekend.

Quinlan takes over Baseball Ontario top spot from Huctwith

A two-year project to restructure the operations of Baseball Ontario culminated at the 102nd Baseball Ontario Annual General Meeting with the election of members to the 2020 Board of Management, Rep and Select Councils. Ed Quinlan takes over as president of the Board of Management from David Huctwith who guided the organization for the past five years. Huctwith, (Mississauga, Ont.) now past president also takes on the duties of treasurer.
