Easing of restrictions too little, too late for HarbourCats

The provincial British Columbia government announced on Tuesday that after July 1, outdoor gatherings in the province can have up to 5,000 people in attendance, or up to 50% capacity, whichever is greater. While that is great news for many in the province, it is too little, too late for sports teams like the Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls, who had to make critical business decisions two months ago regarding the 2021 West Coast League Baseball season.

Brash leads AquaSox over Canadians

Consecutive walks to start the ninth seemed primed to jumpstart a game-tying rally for the Vancouver Canadians but the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) managed to escape the frame to beat the C’s 2-1 Wednesday night at Funko Field. Canadian Matt Brash (Kingston, Ont.) started for the AquaSox and hurled six scoreless innings to earn the win.
