Five Terriers participating in this weekend's CPBL All-Star Showcase

Forty-four of the top baseball players from across the province will compete at the second annual Canadian Premier Baseball League All-Star Showcase this weekend. The blue and gold will be well represented as five Ontario Terriers will take the field in the event being held in Oakville and Dorchester. Suiting up for Team Black will be outfielder Cameron Chee-Aloy, outfielder Keegan O’Hearn, catcher Hugh Pinkney and left handed hurler Jordan Woods. In the opposing dugout playing for Team Red will be infielder/outfielder Lucas Alberti.

Borucki suspended for three games

Pitcher Ryan Borucki of the Toronto Blue Jays has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally hitting Kevin Kiermaier of the Tampa Bay Rays with a pitch during the bottom of the eighth inning of Wednesday’s game at Tropicana Field.

Julien homers in three straight games to lead Kernels into playoffs

A late-season power surge by Edouard Julien (Quebec City, Que.) helped propel the Minnesota Twins’ High-A Cedar Rapid Kernels into the playoffs. The ABC and Junior National Team alum belted a home run on Sunday for the Kernels to help lead them to an 11-0 win over the Peoria Batters. It was the third consecutive game in which Julien had homered. Julien also had a double, a walk and two runs in the contest.

Victoria Golden Tide split doubleheader with Vancouver Island University

“The smell of hot dogs was in the air and the crack of the bat was back, as baseball made its first appearance at Wilson's Group Stadium in over two years, as the Victoria Golden Tide hosted the Vancouver Island University Mariners in Canadian College Baseball Conference exhibition play.

Over 300 fans came out to enjoy the return of baseball on what turned into a beautiful fall day and they got their money's worth, watching an exciting 11-10 Mariners win in game one, with the home team rebounding for a 16-3 win in game two.”
